Full Cup

Roots Reggae World Fusion

About

Full Cup is a six-piece roots reggae band from Northern California, rooted in the one-drop tradition and drawing from dancehall, dub, hip-hop, and world music. The band is fronted by Tafari — a Jamaican vocalist and heir to a lineage of Nyabinghi elders — and Johnny Dutro, a Chico-based singer whose eclectic global influences push the sound into modern territory.

Beyond their original material, Full Cup is a trusted presence as a backing band, having backed Half Pint, Kulcha Knox, and Papa Wastik on stage and recorded with Arkangel and Andrew Bees of Black Uhuru. Band members have also shared stages with Norma Fraser, Rocker T, and Saritah.

The rhythm section runs deep: drummer Darby McConnell (Soul Majestic) has played roots music since 1995 and previously opened for Don Carlos, Toots and the Maytals, and The Wailers; bassist Curtis Davis brings years in reggae backing bands; Andrew Sabisch (Dr. Ivories) holds down keys; and Timin Murray rounds out the sound on guitar and dub, with studio engineering experience throughout Northern California. Full Cup delivers music that is heavy, spiritual, and alive — music that moves bodies, carries messages, and honors the lineage from which reggae was born.

Available for venues of all sizes — clubs, outdoor stages, and festivals.
